La Boella

Basic informations:

La Boella’s hotel and olive oil tourism complex is between the towns of Reus and Tarragona at the heart of a 110-hectare estate of olive groves and vineyards with 6,500 square metres of landscaped gardens. The 12th-century country house has been exquisitely restored and redecorated.

The La Boella complex offers a grand convention centre ideal for conferences, business meetings and wedding celebrations. The small boutique hotel  has thirteen exclusive rooms and a gastronomic restaurant. The olive mill produces the much-awarded La Boella extra virgin olive oils; and there is a winery and cellar where the La Boella wines are made.

Surrounded by vineyards and gardens, a stay in La Boella is a unique experience. Conceived in the boutique format “to attend to and pamper each of our guests”, the hotel offers a wide range of personalised services.

Outstanding among its additional services is its extensive range of open-air leisure and entertainment activities, as well as gastronomic and oenological proposals such as guided tours of the olive oil mill and winery, cheese and olive oil tasting, wine tasting courses and wine matching and cookery workshops.

Location:

The historical origin of the La Boella estate has recently been confirmed. Its name apparently comes from a Muslim, Bu-Alla (Boella), who farmed the land on which the house was built.
The first historical reference to “La Boella” can be found in the Middle Ages. A manuscript dated 7 March 1150 certifies that Prince Robert the Norman donated this land to one Huch and his wife Eva for them to farm.
La Boella has always played an important role in the area’s agricultural and social life. Some of its wines (it had vineyards) were awarded international prizes at the Universal Exhibitions of 1888 in Barcelona and 1873 in Vienna.
